Bega Cheese launches new Indoor Concert Series with Sapphire Rock
In conjunction with the celebratory “Turning of the First Sod” for the Sapphire Aquatic Centre Project in October 2009, Bega Cheese announced that it will sponsor a series of several indoor concerts, in association with Sapphire Rock. These concerts will raise further funds to assist with enclosing and heating the Pambula Swimming Pool. This concert series will, for the time being, replace the annual outdoor Bega Cheese Sapphire Rock event normally held in January each year.
Chair of the Bega Cheese Board, Barry Irvin, says that Bega Cheese is delighted to continue to work with the Rotary Club of Pambula and Sapphire Rock, to bring high calibre artists of many musical genres to the local area.
“The annual Sapphire Rock event over the past four years has touched the entire region, and has been so successful that Bega Cheese is pleased to assist with fundraising for the Pambula Swimming Pool Project in a different format this year.
Sapphire Rock Artistic Director, Frankie J Holden, has done it again! He persuaded rock ‘n’ roll icon Jon English and his five piece band to launch the Bega Cheese Concert Series at the Merimbula RSL Club on Saturday 7 November 2009. This event was a sell-out”
On Saturday 20 February 2010, as part of a “Classic Car” weekend, Normie Rowe and the Stumblin’ Wilburys performed at the NRMA Merimbula Beach Caravan Park, supported by Gary Eastwood. The concert was a great success and was featured in the June NRMA Open Road Magazine.
Our next concert is on Saturday, August 14th, 2010 at Club Sapphire , Merimbula, featuring Patrick McMahon as Neil Diamond in “Hot August Night” supported by the Stumblin’ Wilburys. Tickets are on sale now at $30.
